What is Unity?Unity is a spiritual movement based on the teachings of Jesus offering a unique, positive, practical, progressive approach to Christianity. Unity respects and honors all other religions and spiritual paths. Founded in 1889, Unity is a worldwide educational and religious organization founded in Kansas City, Missouri. With over 1,000 churches in the United States, Unity offers a practical philosophy for living and an extremely positive approach to life. Unity seeks to accept the good in people and all of life--unabashedly focusing on and celebrating the "original blessing." Unity has no strict creed or dogma but offers a comprehensive teaching to all who are seeking a deeper understanding of their spiritual nature. |
Our Minister Rev. Deb Knowles: Rev. Deborah Knowles is the Spiritual Leader of Unity Church of Kona-Kohala. She has been the spearhead of our ministry for the past 10 years. "Rev Deb", as she is lovingly referred to, received her degree from the University of Metaphysics in 2002 and continues her education through Unity and the Association of Unity Churches. She has been a Unity student, teacher and speaker for over 25 years. A native Californian, Rev. Deb made her home on Oahu since the early '70's. She is the proud mother of 4 children and has 15 grandchildren! Rev. Deb moved to Kailua-Kona in 2001 to become the full-time spiritual leader of our wonderful Unity community. Rev. Deb is available for spiritual counseling, life coaching, weddings, vow renewals, christenings, blessings, Celebration of Life services. She can be reached through the office phone: 808-322-0885. |
| WINTER 2009-2010 This is truly the season for giving and receiving. Counting our blessings this Christmas holiday season is very important to us and for us. We are very blessed to be in our new location and we have Christmas decorations that we can leave up ALL THE TIME! Unless you are familiar with portable church activities, you won't know how grateful we are to have a real Unity Center in the heart of Kailua Kona. We don't have to set up for church the day before and then take everything down and put it all away after the service. We have been doing that for almost 23 years! I read the article in Unity magazine about a man who gave away a dollar a day to anyone and how it changed his life. What if we decided to be more generous in times of the appearance of lack? Do you want 2010 to be better than this year? Perhaps focusing on giving may bring your good to you in greater ways. This past week here in Kona we had two absolutely beautiful pure Hawaiian days. You see, we don't get blue skies, tradewinds and sunshine every day. We have voggy days. Days that are extremely hazy due to the volcano that is sending lots of vog into the air. As I sat by the ocean those two days, tears of gratitude flowed for the beauty of Hawaii. I felt extremely grateful to live here. Take time to count your blessings. Review this past year and ask God for what you need to make the very most of 2010. God Bless You and thank you for being you! |
